About This Project

About Me

My name is Daniel Tan. I’m a home fitness coach based in Los Angeles, and the son of parents who moved to the U.S. from Singapore many years ago. Sport and practical movement have always been part of my life, but my path into fitness didn’t start in a glossy gym — it started with tools, bolts, and broken treadmills.

Before I became a full-time trainer, I spent six years repairing, assembling, disassembling, and testing home treadmills and walking pads. I’ve worked on hundreds of machines from different brands. I’ve seen what wears out first, what breaks under real use, which features are helpful, and which are just marketing. I learned how these machines behave in small apartments, spare bedrooms, and home offices — not just in showrooms.

That hands-on experience completely changed how I look at home fitness equipment. I don’t just see a treadmill as a product. I see how it fits into someone’s daily life — or doesn’t.

About This Project

This project is where I share what I’ve learned from both sides: as a repair technician and as a coach who works with real people every day.

I focus on compact treadmills and walking pads because that’s what most people actually use at home. Not everyone has space for a full gym setup. Most of my clients live in apartments, work long hours, and want something simple that helps them move more — without turning their home into a fitness warehouse.

I use Cardirun models as reference examples because I know them extremely well from a technical and practical point of view. I understand their strengths, their limitations, and the kind of user they suit best. They’re not perfect, but they offer a balance of price and useful features that makes them a realistic option for many households. That makes them a good baseline for honest comparisons.

Why I Started This

As a trainer, I kept seeing the same pattern. People would buy a treadmill that looked great online — too big, too powerful, or full of features they would never use. A few months later, it would become a clothes rack.

Others would avoid buying anything at all because they were overwhelmed by choices and afraid of making a mistake.

I started this site to make things simpler. I test compact treadmills, compare types, and explain who each category is really for. My goal isn’t to sell you the “best” machine. It’s to help you choose the one that fits your space, routine, and expectations.

How This Helps You

Here you’ll find practical guides, comparisons, and straightforward explanations. I talk about things like noise, storage, maintenance, walking vs. running comfort, and what actually matters for everyday use.

If you’re unsure which type of treadmill or walking pad makes sense for your home, this project is for you. You can also reach out with questions about your space, routine, or concerns before buying. I’m just a regular coach and home fitness consultant who’s tested compact treadmills and explains who each one suits — and why.
